holiday photo shoot with the Henkel's

A holiday shoot in March? Not exactly...but these photos were taken over the 2012 holidays and used for holiday cards and I haven't shown them here on the blog until now...I figured it was about time:) The Henkel's are very good friends of mine, so there was no doubt I would love these photos, but I seriously LOVE these photos! The whole session was so much fun! Hudson and I strolled the Highline holding hands (as BFF's do), Adi took her first solo stroll through the Meatpacking District, and we spent the rest of the time making each other laugh and getting some really fantastic photos of it all! A much overdo "preview" for sure...enjoy!

Rhodes family of four {NYC Family Photographer}

Meet the Rhodes family!! This family of 4 (similarly aged to my family of 4) braved the cold (and the NYC traffic I might add) to meet me in Battery Park City for a morning shoot. It's the middle of winter, so outdoors with 2 little girls under the age of 3 doesn't sound the most appealing, so we spent most of our time indoors at the World Financial Center (pretty much an indoor playground for kids this time of year) and then just a little time outside in the snow. It was perfect! The girls are unbelievably stylish (seriously, I need to take some tips for Della's wardrobe) and their parents...well, you can see for yourself that they've got plenty of style too. Thank you for a great morning...enjoy the preview!!

a new year {personal}

Well, it's no secret that I've been a little absent from blogging recently. Between a crazy end to my 2012 (thank goodness for crazy year endings) including many holiday sessions that couldn't be blogged about since holiday cards were in the makings and then my own personal vacation to FL for 3 weeks (yes, 3 whole weeks in sunny FL)...well, it didn't leave me much time for blogposts and updates I'm afraid. But, I'm back and I plan on being ever present again! So, while I'm late in the wishing everyone an official New Year, I'll just say Happy January instead.

I have many new year's goals, but the first and most important one for me is to have a better balance of life and work. I love my job. I love the life I am able to create with my job. With the addition of Della these last 6 (almost 7) months though, that balance has been a little askew for me. Who knew having 2 kids would be that much more complicated? :) So, in honor of the new year, I will make resolutions and set goals that make me a better photographer and most of all a better mom to these amazing kids...no amount of words can express the love I have for them. They fill me with the most amazing joy and not a day goes by (even the hair pulling out days) that I do not find more love for them and the life they give me. And while having 2 kids is definitely more complicated than just 1 (for me at least), watching them together and taking a moment to listen to their conversations (albeit 1 sided mostly at this point) is possibly one of the greatest thrills of my life. And since I'm running out of words to express myself at this point, I'll just give you a little glimpse of what I'm talking about in photos instead....Happy January everyone!

a Traveller's Rest Wedding: Lucy and Brad's wedding preview {Nashville Wedding Photographer}

This blog post is a long time coming, but I think it's worth the wait:) Lucy and Brad were married this fall at the beautiful Traveller's Rest plantation in Nashville. With open fields, a beautiful plantation home, and a newly renovated barn, this venue was the perfect location for their day. I am always honored to be a part of a couple's wedding day...I do not take the invitation lightly, but after thinking and planning with Lucy and Brad for over a year and a half (they were way more planned out than I ever was with my wedding:)), I felt an even stronger connection to this day. From Lucy's Jim Hjelm dress and blue Badgley Mischka's, to the gorgeous flowers, add in one happy couple surrounded by their loving friends and family and you pretty much have the perfect day! Thank you Lucy and Brad for letting me be a part of it all...enjoy the preview!!
